Google One, the company's cloud storage subscription service, has officially crossed the 100 million subscriber mark, a significant milestone highlighting its growing popularity. Announced by Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai on Twitter, the achievement comes on the heels of Google One's recent expansion into the AI-powered premium space.

"We just crossed 100 million Google One subscribers," Pichai tweeted. "Looking forward to building on that momentum with our new AI Premium Plan, offering AI features like Gemini Advanced, plus Gemini in Gmail, Docs, and more coming soon."

Launched in 2018, Google One offers tiered storage plans that expand beyond the 15GB initially provided for free across Gmail, Drive, and Photos. Users can upgrade to plans ranging from 100GB to 2TB or more, with additional benefits like expert help, family sharing, and VPN access.

The recent surge in subscribers is likely attributed to several factors. The increasing demand for online storage, coupled with Google's vast user base across its services, has created a natural market for Google One.

Additionally, the platform's competitive pricing and convenient features like family sharing have made it an attractive option for individuals and families alike.

Looking ahead, Google is betting on AI to further drive Google One's growth. The newly launched AI Premium Plan promises advanced features powered by the company's Gemini AI technology, including smart summarization, document translation enhancements, and personalized recommendations.

Additionally, Google plans to integrate Gemini across various core services like Gmail and Docs, offering users an even more intelligent and personalized experience.

"This milestone is a testament to the value that Google One brings to our users," said a Google spokesperson in a statement. "We are committed to providing innovative storage solutions and AI-powered features that help people get the most out of their Google experience."

The AI Premium plan is priced at $19.99/month, while the Basic, Standard, and Premium plans cost $1.99/month, $2.99/month, and $9.99/month, respectively.

Note that Google One plans' pricing, benefits, and availability may vary depending on the region. You can click here for more details about Google One plans and read our Google Gemini announcement coverage here to know more about it.

With its sizable user base and focus on AI integration, Google One appears well-positioned to continue its growth trajectory in the cloud storage market. The success of its AI Premium Plan and future integration across its core services will be key factors to watch in the coming months.
